By now, everyone has heard of the mass devastation that has occurred in Haiti earlier this week. Truly, the magnitude ofthe destruction and loss of life defies comprehension. Billions of dollars of support are pouring into the country from all over the world, which is much needed. But as a church, we would like to get directly involved with supporting the numerous churches that we fellowship located in and around Port-au-Prince.
As many of you know, since 2000, Brother Singh has been making regular trips into Haiti.
This island-nation has hundreds of our churches scattered throughout. Specifically, in Port-au-Prince, Brother Cesar has about 17 churches, Brother Romus Deronett has several groups, and Brother Antoine Clairant has a church as well. Other churches will be affected as well, due to the complete breakdown of the country. Together, these churches represent thousands of individual saints. |
In light of the catastrophe, here is what we would like to do:
• Relief & Reconstruction Effort: secular and charitable organizations are working diligently to relieve the immediate needs of the people, but for the churches we work with, to meet the needs of the saints and help in the reconstruction of homes and buildings, the costs will be in the tens of thousands of dollars. We recognize that none of us are wealthy, but believe that with a spirit of sacrifice, compassion and generosity we will be able to meet the need.
• Our Commitment: we honour every sacrifice made to help in this effort. We commit that every single dollar donated – 100% – will go directly to relief efforts on the ground (i.e.: will not be used for travel, administration or overhead of any kind).
• Updates: once we have raised the funds, we will use this website to detail how the money donated is being spent. |
